Yukiko Koide Presents Maruishi Building #301, 1-10-4 Kajicho, Chiyoda, Tokyo 1010044 Japan
The Maruishi Building is a European style building completed in 1931, and a rare example of pre-war contemporary architecture existing today in Tokyo. Prized red and yellow Longshan stone from Hyogo Prefecture define the walls, and a pair of lion statues greet the guests at the main entrance. Upon entering the building, the breath-taking handwork of craftsmen welcomes: Romanesque relief ornaments adorn the arches and columns, plastered statues embellish the ceilings, and floors are made of meticulously placed mosaic tiles. The Maruishi Building was registered as tangible cultural property of Japan in 2002.
